| المستخلص: | This article examines one of the most important issues related to hadith which has been discussed under the title of Tabqat Kutub al-Hadith by some scholars. The writer briefly outlines their views on the status of various compendia of hadith. The majority of scholars prefer Sahlh al-Bukhdn, while some others prefer Sahlh Muslim. Shah Wall Allah considered Muwatta' of Imam Malik the best and most authentic book after the Qur’an agreeing with some other earlier renowned scholars like Imam Shafi‘i and others. The writer has examined these views and has argued in favour of Shah Wall Allah's preference for Muwatta' by Imam Malik. The article has been divided into an Introduction which outlines the subject, a preface to throw some light on the scope and methodology of this article, and three parts of the main discussion and a Conclusion. |
