| المستخلص: | This research deals with the controversial issues in syntax regarding "Al" that describes the present participle or the past participle. Should it be a relative pronoun or a definite article? The majority of grammarians considered it a relative pronoun and what comes after it is the antecedent. But this parsing leads to several problems, and to avoid this, the researcher considered it a definite article. This is approved by some of the leading Arab grammarians, amongst them: Al-Mazni, Ibn Yaiesh and Al-Shalobeen. |
