Mansoura University is one of many universities in Egypt that increase efforts and encourage delivering online courses. Although online learning appeals to almost all students due to the flexibility and convenience it offers, not all students are suited to online learning. \ Learners' readiness is one of the essential factors that contribute to the success of their online learning. Certain factors constitute learners' readiness for online learning, such as having previous experience and effective communication skills in virtual learning environment, being competent in basic computer skills and being able to be engaged in autonomous learning. Therefore, this research was conducted to assess students' readiness for online learning. A sample of 186 students from Damietta Branch of Mansoura University participated in the research. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to collect data about students' computer skills, familiarity with online communication and awareness of Moodle as the course management system in use. \ The results reveal that the participants of this research have insufficient computer skills, Internet and communication skills and Moodle skills. Therefore, the students of DBMU are not ready to practice online learning successfully yet. \ The results also indicate that about half of the respondents (49.4%) have no personal computers, and only 31.5% have Internet access in their homes. \ Moreover, a positive influence of students' field of specialization on their computer skills was found. \ Based on the findings of this research, the students’ success to study online in DBMU will often overwhelmed from the start and may be frustrated. Therefore, Assessment of students’ readiness for online learning is necessary prior to their enrollment in any online course. Consequently, preliminary training sessions to improve students' readiness could be recommended
