The development of these skills early in the business curriculum can also improve student performance in their upper level business courses. This paper reports student perceptions of the effectiveness of a course designed to explicitly teach these three skills to students entering a college of business. The course is a pre-requisite or co-requisite for all College of Business courses. \ The core research question is: Can student abilities to think critically, work in teams, and conduct sound business research be improved if the student receives explicit instruction on these skills at the beginning of the business curriculum? Survey data was collected from 482 seniors enrolled in the capstone course for the business program to determine their perception of the use and/or benefits of the instruction in these skills received in the Business Cornerstone course. \ Overall, students perceived a performance benefit as a result of the explicit instruction. Improvement In critical thinking and team building skills were perceived to be greater than improvement in business research. Differences by major field of study were noted. \
