| المستخلص: | The Fourth Cataract Area in the Christian Period (550-1350) is considered to be one of the most arid and rocky zones in the Middle Nile Region, so its natural sources, particularly those of agriculture and herding cattle are meager . Through centuries the area occupied by few people . The Classical literary sources and travelers' accounts shed faint lights on the area in the Christian period ; the recent archaeological works provide more information in the social;, cultural, economic and political situations . The tough physical characteristics did not isolate the Fourth Cataracts area from the other parts of Makuria . The area played some distinguished historical roles in the Early and the Late Christian periods . |
