| المستخلص: | شغف الأدباء بدراسة قسمات وملامح الوجه وخصوا العيون بجزء كبير من اهتمامهم لما تحمله من جمال وسحر بالإضافة إلى كونها مرآة النفس البشرية، إن ملامح (العيون) تشكل منفذاً للتعريف عن مكنونات النفس البشرية من فضائل وعيوب، وما يعتلج فيها من أحاسيس ومشاعر مختلفة. يهدف هذا البحث لدراسة الشواهد والمقاطع التي جاءت كلمة (العيون) ملازمة لها -والتي تذخر بها أعمال شكسبير. إن الشواهد المختارة ترصد لنا صورا تكاد تفصح وتتكلم عنها لغة العيون (الصامتة)، وتحمل القارئ على التفكير لمعرفة المضامين والدلالات المختلفة التي تعبر عن جوانب عديدة لفضائل ودلالات النفس البشرية. تشكل هذه المضامين قالباً لغوياً استطاع شكسبير من خلاله أن يظهر تماما ما يدور في خلد شخوص مسرحياته وأن يغوص في أعماقها ليصور لنا حالات النفس البشرية المختلفة ممزوجة بما يعتريها مما جبلت عليه من حب وكراهية، وحقد وضغينة، وغباء وذكاء وحسن التصرف، بالإضافة إلى صور شتى تعبر عن مظاهر الحياة على اختلاف أوجهها. Shakespeare’s works provide interesting materials for study and constitute a useful corpus for many purposes . This paper sheds light on different associations and interpretations of the cognitive functions of the human eye in the corpus of Shakespeare’s plays. It, of course, does not include all ‘eye’- occurrences but only those that offer an interesting analysis by which the reader would be able to know the different dispositions of the characters involved in the description. Other occurrences in which the ‘eye’ functions just as an organ of sight with no metaphorical purpose are subtracted from the totals. A rapid survey of Shakespeare’s use of the ‘eye’ concepts for metaphoric and symbolic purposes demonstrates his sensitive treatment of the Elizabethan material used in the depiction of the inner self of the character to reveal different abstract qualities such as love, hatred, innocence, and wise judgement. I suppose these qualities and others, which the reader would come upon in his reading, would give him an opportunity to believe that Shakespeare was not only a dramatist but also a shrewd psychoanalyst. |
