المستخلص:Teaching/ learning Italian as a foreign language has always been linked to the use of literary texts in language classes. It is considered as a place where Italian culture and language is practiced. This article proposes to present and explain the complementary role of literature in language classes, showing the effectiveness and importance of the use of literary text as an educational tool and support and a sociocultural medium, presenting cultural aspects, linguistic and communicative language that foster the acquisition of intercultural competence, through an analysis of a narrative text by Sciascia and another poetic by Umberto Saba.

L’insegnamento/ apprendimento dell’italiano come lingua straniera è stato sempre legato all’uso dei testi letterari nelle classi di lingua. È considerato come spazio dove si pratica la cultura e la lingua italiana. Quest’articolo propone di presentare e spiegare il ruolo complementare della letteratura nelle classi di lingua, mostrando l’efficacia e l’importanza dell’uso del testo letterario come uno strumento e supporto didattico e un medium socioculturale, presentando gli aspetti culturali, linguistici e comunicativi veicolati nella lingua che favoriscono l’acquisizione della competenza interculturale, attraverso un’analisi di un testo narrativo di Sciascia e un altro poetico di Umberto Saba.
