| 520 | |b The current research is explicitly devoted to Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple, which is a celebration of African- American female sovereignty following a long journey of male oppression, sexism, and slavery. The present study operates under the Black feminist literary criticism approach; it highlights the role of profound female relationships in the life of Celie, a poor uneducated sexually abused black girl who finds the strength to emancipate herself from the evils of patriarchy and sexism with the help of the special women in her life.
