الوصف
المستخلص:This article explores the way Kateb Yacine juxtaposes experimental form and postcolonial content in his play The Man in Rubber Sandals. It discusses postcolonial issues like racial and gender dimensions of the play from historicist perspectives. Taking its theoretical bearings from Brecht’s modernist techniques, Gilbert Helen’s markers of postcolonial drama, Ashcroft’s and Fanon’s postcolonial concepts, it contends that Kateb’s play is a tentative attempt at the redefinition of a Katebian theatre which is becoming experimental / Brechtian in form and postcolonial in content. It inquiries the way the playwright expends the context of the politics of the sixties as a pretext to review the established power relations as related to the scorching issues of the day.
