Carvalho souligne qu’il n’y a qu’une seule phonologie pour toutes les langues. Elle montre comment faire une analyse d’un corpus qui représente une langue, à partir de mots transcrits en API et leur sens. Thomas Scheer souligne les études à base de corpus en phonologie qui semble être le seul domaine avec la morphosyntaxe qui produise un système au sens structuraliste : on ne trouve l’équivalent de ce système dans aucune autre discipline. Le cadre théorique est primordial pour interpréter, comprendre comment le phonème fonctionne dans une langue donnée. En outre, il nous permet de déceler les variantes libres, les paires minimales, les variantes combinatoires en distribution complémentaire, la neutralisation et l’archiphonème. Phonology is concerned with sounds as a distinct unit, and it aims to analyze the languages based on a corpus. Carvalho pointed out that "phonology is the same in all languages, revealing how to analyze this corpus that represents language, relying on words written in an "International Phonetic Alphabet" system and its semantics. As for "Thomas" Scheer, he pointed out - in turn - that the study of the mentioned corpus in the light of phonology appears to be the only field besides inflection that produces a system of meanings of structures. It is worth noting that there is no equivalent to the mentioned system in any other field. The theoretical framework is essential to explain and understand how the phonème works in a particular language; in addition, it enables us to extract verbal images (verbal alterations).
