| 520 | |b This study investigates the need to find an interpretive definition for the concept of «the intellectual» in contemporary Arab discourse, a definition which goes further than the functional description that views the intellectual through his/her critical, activist, and value-based role and confrontation with power and the authorities. It seeks a definition that enjoys consensus or near consensus among those engaged in the production and consumption of culture, knowledge, and ideas, given the strong overlap and partnership between producers and consumers of culture, and between its innovators, teachers, and transmitters. This has had an effect in the renewal and regeneration of culture, and consequently on the movement of society itself, not excluding identity. The study also asks whether Arab intellectuals have reflected on a definition of their role and how it was formed. These tasks will be undertaken through a review of the book The Role of Intellectuals in Historical Transformations. | ||
| 520 | |a تبحث هذه الدراسة في ضرورة إيجاد تعريف تفسيري لمفهوم «المثقف» في الخطاب العربي المعاصر، بعيدا عن التوصيف الوظيفي الذي يرى «المثقف» من خلال دوره النقدي والتغييري والقيمي ومواجهة السلطان والسلطات. وتسعى إلى أن يكون تعريفا يحظى بإجماع أو شبه إجماع عند المشتغلين بالإنتاج الثقافي والمعرفي والفكري واستهلاكه؛ إذ نلاحظ تداخلا قويا بين منتجي الثقافة ومستهلكيها، وبين مبدعيها ومدرسيها وناقليها؛ ما أثر فيها وفي تجديدها وتجددها، ومن ثم في حركة المجتمع نفسه، ومن غير المستبعد في الهوية كذلك. وتتساءل الدراسة: هل عرف المثقف العربي نفسه؟ وكيف؟ وهو ما تناقشه من خلال تحليل مضمون كتاب دور المثقف في التحولات التاريخية الذي أصدره المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات في عام 2017. | ||
