| المستخلص: | المعاجم العربية كنز من الكنوز الثمينة التي تحويها مكتبتنا العربية، فهي التي حفظت ثروتنا اللغوية من الضياع، تامة النضج، محكمة النسج، مثلا أعلى في الفصاحة والبلاغة، ولولا هذه المعاجم لضاع تراثنا اللغوي والحضاري، ولجهلنا الكثير عن أساليب العربية وطرق استعمالاتها المتنوعة. والمعاجم لا يستغنى عن الرجوع إليها كل باحث في مجال اللغة وكل متصدي لمزاولة فنونها شعرا ونثرا: حتى لا يخرج عن الأعراف اللغوية، وحتى يتمكن من مسايرة روح العصر ومقتضيات الحضارة. معاجمنا العربية متنوعة ما بين معاجم المعاني ومعاجم الألفاظ؛ بل الموسوعات ودوائر المعارف ، إلا أن هذه المعاجم بالرغم من الدور الكبير الذي لعبته في حفظ اللغة وشرح معاني مفرداتها، قد اتسمت ببعض الأمور التي عدت مآخذا عليها: لأنها شكلت عقبة كبيرة أمام الباحثين والمستفيدين من هذه المعاجم، وطعنت في وظيفة المعجم الأساسية التي هي التيسير والتوضيح والإبانة، فغموض وتعقيد عبارة معاجمنا القديمة التي تمثل أمهات الكتب في هذا الفن ، لا تناسب روح العصر ولا روح طلاب العلم فيه ، والذين من أبرز شيمهم القلق وعدم الصبر ، لذا ارتفعت الكثير من الأصوات في هذا العصر تنادي بضرورة معالجة هذا الأمر، وصولا إلى معجم عربي شامل سهل المأخذ عميم الفائدة؛ لذا رأيت أن أضم صوتي إلى أصواتهم ببحثي في هذا الأمر تحت عنوان " المعاجم العربية القديمة بين العجمة والإعجام".
