520 |b The main findings of the study: 1- More than half of population is about 52% for age group (30-44 years) and (45-59 years) of smokers, while this percentage not reach 1% for female. 2- Increase in the percentage of daily male smokers to reach 81.4% compared to 18.6% for non-daily male smokers. 3- Mean age of initiation of smoking reached 18.1 years and the relation between the mean age of initiation of smoking and the age of smokers is directly proportional, where the mean age increased from 15.9 years for current male smokers in the age group (15-29 years) to 21.1 years in the age group (60-69 years) indicating that smoking is more prevalence over time. 4- The average daily consumption of regular manufactured cigarettes was about 16 cigarettes per day, while that number was less than one for the rest of the species: 0.9 for cigars, 0.6 for shisha and 0.2 for hand-rolled cigarettes. 5- Percentage of shisha smokers increasing by age it reached 17.2% for the young people in the age group (15-29 years) increased also to 27.3% for people in the age group (60-69 years). 6- The percentage of quitting smoking increased by the age, the percentage of former smoker in the age group (60-69 years) is 11.7% (21.4 males, 0.2 females), while the lowest percentage is 3.5% (6.8% males, 0.1% females) in the age group (15-29 years). 7- The highest mean years since cessation recorded for male smokers in the age group (60-69 years) it reached 21.3 years, while the lowest mean is 2.8 in the age group (15 -29 years), indicating the high rate of awareness of smoking damage in males in large age groups. 8- The highest percentage reached 41.8% for male smokers who tried to stop smoking in the age group (30-44 years), while the lowest percentage is 39.5% in the age group (15-29 years). 9- The increase of the percentage of current male smokers advised by a doctor to stop smoking during 12 months prior the survey by increasing the age, which reaches 16.7% in the age group (15-29 years) increased to 42.4% for the age group (60-69 years). 10- Decreasing in the percentage of individuals exposed second-hand smoke in the home during 30 days prior the survey by increasing the age, it reached 50.7% (52.5% males, 48.8% females) in the age group (15- 29 years), decreased to 41.9% (44.7% males, 38.7% female) in the age group (60-69 years). 11- The highest percentage of individuals exposed second-hand smoke in the workplace in the past 30 days recorded in the age group (30-44 years) it reached 33.5% (47.5% males, 18.7% females), while the lowest percentage is 17.5% (21.3% males, 13% females) in the age group (60-69 years).
