| المستخلص: | This paper aims to study the legal status of Jerusalem, after the US decision that announced by the President Donald Trump on 6 December 2017 recognizing Jerusalem as an official capital of Israel, which will result in transferring the US embassy to Israel. It also examines the legitimacy of this decision in the light of the rules, of the International Law and the negative effects to the international peace and security. The study falls into four chapters: chapter one explores the legal status of Jerusalem in the light of the International Law judgements and the United Nations'decisions, chapter two presents the US clear position on the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, chapter three reflects the international and regional •. current changes that led to the decision arid chapter four, discusses the repercussions of the American decision on the Palestinian issue and international peace and security. Finally. The study concludes that, according to the International Law, the United States has no legitimacy in adopting a unilateral decision granting any sovereignty to Israel over any part of the occupied Arab Jerusalem. It also stresses that the National legislation that contravenes the rules of International Law is invalid. |
