| المستخلص: | Understanding how and why people use the Internet through its ascending number of websites has been challenging as the Internet provides abundant media content and increasing power to users. Researchers suggest that Internet users are active and purposeful in their media choices. In this study In-depth information useful to people for understanding and orientation about issues and topics especially in crisis is studied, as it is obvious that "When people are under threat, perceived or actual, they go to seek information intensively to achieve situational awareness". Moreover, researchers observed the need for information- sharing inclination during crisis and disasters. (Winerman, 2009) The Egyptian revolution resembles a very good example for Social networks function during a critical situation in Egypt's history since these sites were considered the medium that the Egyptian youth depended on for the 25th of January's demonstrations which struck like a lightning bolt after a long interval of oppression. Egypt's “Day of Rage” from the start was a generalized protest against the regime for all the suffering endured by the Egyptian people for decades. Cyber ignition role was the key for the fall of the aging and ailing president and ousting the whole regime .As a result, social network sites role wasn't only for entertainment, passing time, information and news but also it succeeded to promote democracy and to enhance participation. |
