| 520 | |d En Afrique comme ailleurs, l'armée romaine comprenait deux éléments: la légion et les troupes auxiliaires. Vers la fin de la république la Legio III Augusta s’installa dans la province, elle fut, probablement dissoute en 238 et reconstituée en 252-253 ap.J-C. Jusqu’aux réformes de l’empire tardif, elle était un instrument l’efficace de guerre et de paix. Quant aux troupes, ells étaient divisés en unités ‘’alae’’ et groupes ‘’numeri’’. Ainsi organisée, l’armée romaine a joué un rôle déterminant important dans la romanisation en Afrique du Nord. | ||
