| المستخلص: | قضايا الفكر الأخلاقي لم تحظ باهتمام أصحاب الاتجاه الوضعي بصفة عامة، كونها جمل تعبيرية تعبر عن شعور ذاتي خاص لا يمكن وصفها بالكذب أو الصدق. إلا أن بعض الوضعيين العرب وعلى رأسه زكي نجيب محمود أولوا اهتماما خاصا بالعاطفة كعامل مؤثر من عوامل التغير والإصلاح، لا يقل أهمية عما يحدثه العلم من تغيرات داخل المجتمع، وأن الجمع بين هذين الطرفين (العاطفة "الجانب الإنساني" – والعلم "الجانب العلمي") هو الرسالة والدور الذي ينبغي أن يقوم به أبناء الأمة العربية لإزالة الصراع بين مناصري النظرة العلمية ومناصري النزعة الإنسانية في الفكر الفلسفي. وقد رأى زكي نجيب محمود إن إذا كان محور المواجهة بين الإنسان وما يحيط به عند الأوربيين المحدثين والمعاصرين هو العلم، فإنه بالنسبة لنا بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فإن محور الموجهة أيضاً هو الأخلاق (أي تبني مبادئ السلوك الصحيح تجاه المواقف).
