| المستخلص: | The aim of this study is to explore the use of open access by the UH2C and identity the variables that influence the open access adoption as a new paradigm of scholarly communication. In order to investigate the researcher’s attitudes about open access, data was collected through a survey (143 researchers) and interview with 15 researchers. Results point to a lack of knowledge of open access and reflect that researchers are more familiar with open access journals than institutional repositories. The result of the survey show that the main barriers to open access adoption are: the lack of knowledge of open access benefits and procedures to publish in institutional repositories, plagiarism and copyright fear, and the lack of technological infrastructure and institutional repositories in the universities. |
