| المستخلص: | Upon the Greek Parliament’s vote on the recognition of a Palestinian statehood on January 22, 2015, the total of such decisions has reached 11 in similar conditions taken by different European legislative councils since October 5, 2014. In spite of the relative journalistic and political interest, the investigation of the texts and manners of taking such steps conclusively prove – contrary to what is propagated – that these were mere impressions of decisions to recognize a Palestinian state. European legislators tried to make such illusions but without any genuine or candid calls. That applies to all the relevant states, except Sweden and Luxembourg, which do not count heavily in the EU. The phrasing was carried out extremely carefully, taking weeks – or even months – of discussion between the parties represented in parliament and other influential powers. Thus, we are witnessing only symbolic acts, but not actual recognition or formal appeal as some thought due to internal motives. The present study explores the mechanisms of those steps as well as their loose phrasing even before the relevant debates. It concludes by investigating the content, form and trickery in this context. To this end, content discourse analysis is employed, based on connecting the context with the content. That would enable the comprehension of the implications as well as their accord with the relation between the parties of the issue. |
