الوصف
المستخلص:In response to its unprecedented population growth and ensuing demand for both healthcare and higher education, Saudi Arabia embarked on major infrastructure building and expansion projects. The government and the private sector founded numerous colleges and universities, increasing the overall numbers from 8 to 49 institutions of higher education. A significant portion of the expansion has been in the health professions higher education, which also included the establishment of new teaching hospitals and other medical training facilities. The last two decades witnessed major progress in Saudi health professions education with significant increases in training capacity and professional program diversity. Additional infrastructure that deal with programmatic accreditation and professional registration and licensure have also been developed. This review article will present the state of allied health professions higher education in Saudi Arabia, its progress and limitations.
