| المستخلص: | بما أن للسرعة أهمية بالغة في القراءة لذلك ينبغي اعتماد طرائق القراءة السريعة والمطالعة المكثفة المتدرجة في قاعات تدريس اللغة الإنكليزية بوصفها لغة ثانية أو لغة أجنبية، لأن مردود استخدام هذه الطرائق مهم جداً لمدرسي اللغة الإنكليزية. \ إن تنمية القراءة السريعة والمطالعة المتدرجة المكثفة بالغة الأهمية لمتعلمي اللغة الإنكليزية في الجامعات السورية لأن أداءهم ضعيف في الامتحان المعياري أو اختبارات اللغة الإنكليزية الدولية (كالآيلتس) لأن كفاءتهم محدودة ويفتقرون للدراية والتدريب في القراءة. كما أن تنمية القراءة السريعة والمطالعة المكثفة مهمة جداً أيضاً لطلاب الجامعات الذين لديهم أعباء دراسية كثيرة، فلذلك هم بحاجة ماسة لتنمية مهارات واستراتيجيات للقراءة الفعالة. \ إن إخضاع طلاب الجامعات السورية لبرنامج شامل لتنمية مهارة القراءة السريعة سيحسن أداءهم في القراءة والاستيعاب بلا ريب، ويؤثر في أدائهم اللغوي العام وخاصة في إمكاناتهم في القراءة كما سيحسن مداركهم في القراءة وينمي طلاقتهم ويساعدهم ويحفزهم ليصبحوا قراء بارعين. \ ولهذا السبب يركز هذا المبحث على كيفية مساعدة طلابنا الذين تعوزهم المهارة العالية في اللغة الإنكليزية بسبب عدم ممارسة اللغة وعدم تحفيزهم للقراءة والمطالعة في اللغة الإنكليزية لبناء مفرداتهم ورفع كفاءتهم في اللغة الإنكليزية. \ Since speed is an integral part of overall competence in reading, it is, therefore, very important to implement rapid and extensive reading techniques in the ESL/EFL classroom as the results that such techniques yield are very important for the classroom practitioners. \ Both reading rate development and extensive reading are vital for Syrian university learners of English who perform very poorly on standardised achievement, proficiency, or IELTS tests because of their limited competence and lack of awareness and training in reading. The reading rate development and extensive reading are also of particular importance to university students who have reading loads and a pressing need to develop efficient reading skills and \ strategies. \ Students' exposure and extensive practice in a comprehensive reading rate development programme will doubtlessly improve their reading rate and comprehension, and affect their general language proficiency, as well as their reading abilities. Such strategies will, indeed, favourably enhance their perceptions of reading activities and potentially develop their weak ESL/EFL fluency. It also helps and motivates them to become independent readers by providing a distinct form of scaffolding. \ This paper, therefore, seeks to explore the possibility of addressing the problem of how we can help our learners of English at Syrian universities, whose lack of proficiency in English is primarily due to their lack of exposure to the language and motivate them to read extensively in English to increase their vocabulary and, ultimately, their proficiency in the language \ |
