The research used the descriptive approach in clarifying the nature of Islamic education, its objectives, obstacles to the application of Islamic education, and the centers of scientific excellence in some countries and their objectives. The research dealt with the centers of research excellence at the University of Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman and its origin. The standards of excellence in centers of excellence in universities. The institutional environment conducive to the establishment of the Center for Research Excellence. The justification for supporting centers of research excellence in the field of Islamic education. The problems of Muslim society and Islamic education. In addition to the experience of some foreign countries in the establishment of centers of excellence in universities and some Arab experiences in its establishment, including the Center for Research Excellence for the development of science and mathematics education at King Saud University, and the main activities and programs of the Center. The Center for the development of university education at King Abdul Aziz University, and the Center for Research Excellence in Contemporary Jurisprudence at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University, and the Center for Excellence in Research in the Office Services of the Official Jordanian Universities at Yarmouk University. As in foreign experiences Center for Research Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the University of Indiana, USA. The research has led to a proposed conceptualization of research centers of excellence in the field of Islamic education, explaining its mission, objectives, procedures for establishing it, its organizational structure. In addition to financial and administrative support units, activities of the Center, and the provision of human and financial resources and the work mechanisms of the Center and the regulations, rules and laws governing the Center.
