| المستخلص: | This paper sheds light on the participation of Sudanese women in the elections of 2010. It employs the concept of qualitative participation to indicate the real value for women’s voices reflecting their political consciousness. The participation of women in public life has strong cultural bases; it is a key factor in defining the roles of women in society. Considering that the Sudanese community draws most of it is cultural values from African and Arab patriarchal cultures, the qualitative political participation of women becomes very difficult to interpret. It is linked to factors caused by the collective mind, on one hand, and patriarchy, on the other hand. To analyze this complex, this paper uses literature and observation as methodological tools. The paper concludes that women’s political participation and votes should not be analyzed from a numerical perspective only; it is important to consider women’s actual will in voting, and to consider that men hold power over women in the political sphere, which may influence women to vote for particular people. |
