الوصف
المستخلص:This paper tries to investigate the extent to which music can show and illustrate political identity. It will investigate Mohamed Abdelwaheb’s music as a case study to try to investigate the extent to which it subscribed to the political institution at the time when they were composed. Theoretically, this paper will be based on Framing Theory in order to investigate the frames within whose limits the songs of Abdelwaheb were encapsulated. This paper has found out that there is substantial correlation between Abdelwaheb's music and lyrics with the prevailing political atmosphere in Egypt in the 1950s and 1960s. This paper subscribes, thus, to a field which is flourishing, namely the involvement of music in political propaganda and how political actors utilize it to encapsulate their political identity and ideological belonging.
