| المستخلص: | This paper is intended to give a detailed description to the great lakes region in central Africa, its geo-political importance, ethnic composition, languages spoken in the 5 countries composing the region. The paper focuses on Banto and Nilotic groups: the origins to the majority of the groups there. \ The paper attempts to answer the vocal question about the role of ethnic and linguistic composition in reestablishing the region and Its main finding is that: this will be very difficult in spite of the homogeneity due to complex internal and external factors such as illiteracy, lack of awareness, the trend of minorities, rights and the international greed. |
