| المستخلص: | This study tackles the role of religion in the southern - northern Dispute since the time of colonialism . During that time Islam was fought against while Christianity was encouraged . colonialism also created hatred of notherners in the hearts of southerners. The study also covers Aboud's time and his driving away of Christian missions and then the time of Nimeri and the sharia application . finally the study concludes by the Inqaz time which declared jihad to face the SPLA utilization of the factor of religion and the western support to it. The study tackles the strong ties that hold ethnicity and Christianity in the south, which was an important factor in the southern-northen struggle . which gave that struggle a new dimension and caused it to be an identity struggle between the two sides. |
