الوصف
المستخلص:Writing is a method that transfers spoken language from being heard to being seen to be read. In order to represent spoken language in a written script, a system must be invented and therefore precisely implemented. This research attempted to find out the most common spelling errors committed by EFL (English as a foreign language) undergraduate students at English language department, Faculty of Education Qasser Ben Ghashir and the reasons behind making these errors. A test was used for collecting data. The test is consisted of three sections. There are ten sentences in each one. Section one is consisted of examples of words which contain silent letters to find out to what extent students in the two levels are aware of the spelling of such words. Whereas Section two includes examples of words which contain the letter C pronounced as /K/. Section three consists of examples of words which contain the letter S pronounced as /Z/. 40 students from the English Department at Faculty of Education Qasser Ben Ghashir participated in answering the test. They were chosen from two different semesters. The first group represented level (1) and is consisted of first and second semester students. The second group represented level (2) and is consisted of sixth and seventh semester students. The results of the test indicated that level 2 students are more advanced than level 1 in spelling words correctly.
