| المستخلص: | لكل مجتمع عاداته وتقاليده الخاصة به والتي تعد مظهرا من مظاهر الحياة الاجتماعية، والترفيه والتسلية وسيلة هامة يقبل عليها الناس لقضاء وقت فراغهم، وجانب مهم في حياة الشعوب الاجتماعية للترويح عن نفوسهم، ولتربيض عقولهم، وأبدانهم، ولذا فإننا نجد أن لكل أمة وسائل الترفيه والتسلية الخاصة بهم والتي تتفق، مع عاداتهم وتقاليدهم، ولقد تعددت وسائل التسلية والترفيه في جميع العصور لاسيما العصر الأيوبي، فمنها ما اتصل بالفنون أو الرياضة أو الفروسية وغيرها، ومن تلك الوسائل التي شملت جانباً خاصاً في حياة السلاطين، اهتمامهم بالحيوان والطير على مختلف الأنواع، كشغف السلاطين باقتناء الحيوانات والطيور، وحرصوا على اقتناء كل ما هو غريب منها، ويبدو أن الدافع وراء اهتمام السلاطين بالحيوان والطير حبهم، للألعاب الرياضية المتصلة بالحيوان والطير، حيث عنوا بالفروسية وسباق الخيل، والرماية، والصيد وغيرها من الألعاب المختلفة. ومن وسائل التسلية خروج الناس إلى الحدائق والمنتزهات والبرك التي حفلت بها الدولة الايوبية، حيث كانت تقام لها الأسواق ويباع إليهم أنواع الأكل فيختلط الناس في غير كلفة أو حجاب، وقد تطرقنا في بحثنا هذا الى الألعاب كالصيد والشطرنج وركوب الخيل إضافة وسائل الترفيه مثل المتنزهات التي سنبين أهمية كل واحد منها خلال ثنايا البحث.
