| المستخلص: | مطلع القرن العشرين نشرت مجلة "المشرق" مجموعة من المقالات التاريخية تناولت الحركة التجارية التي عرفتها المدن الساحلية اللبنانية في حقبات مختلفة. جاءت هذه المقالات عبارة عن ملخصات لأبرز وأهم المؤلفات والدراسات المتخصصة الصادرة في أوروبا منذ منتصف القرن التاسع عشر وحتى العام ١٩٠٦. وعرضت أفكارا جديدة في الكتابة التاريخية المستندة إلى المنهجية العلمية المعتمدة في أوروبا، تحديدا في ألمانيا وفرنسا. وأسهم في نشر هذا النوع من المقالات الجو العام الذي كان سائدا في لبنان منذ نهاية القرن التاسع عشر، حيث شهد قطاع التعليم تقدما مع انتشار المدارس، وتأسيس الجامعة الأميركية والجامعة اليسوعية، وازدهار حركة الطباعة، وصدور المجلات والصحف التي نشرت الثقافة العامة وساهمت في توسيع المعرفة العلمية. ساعدت هذه المقالات في مجلة "المشرق" على التعرف إلى أحدث الدراسات التاريخية الصادرة في أوروبا لكي يستفيد منها الباحثون والمهتمون بكتابة تاريخ لبنان وتوجيههم نحو مدرسة جديدة في الكتابة التاريخية تتناول التغييرات والتطورات التي شهدتها أحوال التجارة في المدن الساحلية اللبنانية عبر التاريخ. يهدف هذا البحث إلى عرض هذه المقالات، وتسليط الضوء عليها، لإظهار أهميتها ودورها في تجديد الكتابة التاريخية بنقلها أبرز ما توصلت إليه الدراسات والأعمال العلمية الصادرة في أوروبا في مجال التاريخ الاقتصادي إبان القرن التاسع عشر ومطلع القرن العشرين. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Al-Mashreq magazine published a compilation of historical articles focusing on the commercial activity of Lebanese coastal cities across various eras. These articles served as concise summaries of the most prominent and significant specialized literature and studies published in Europe from the mid-nineteenth century until 1906. They introduced new ideas to historical writing, adopting the scientific methodology prevalent in Europe, particularly in Germany and France. The overall atmosphere in Lebanon at the end of the nineteenth century played a crucial role in the publication of such articles. Progress in the education sector was notable, marked by the proliferation of schools, the establishment of the American University and the Jesuit University, the flourishing of the printing movement, and the emergence of magazines and newspapers that disseminated general culture and contributed to the expansion of scientific knowledge. The articles in Al-Mashreq magazine helped readers with the latest historical studies published in Europe. This served as a valuable resource for researchers and individuals interested in documenting the history of Lebanon, guiding them toward a new paradigm of historical writing that focused on the changes and developments observed in the trade conditions of Lebanese coastal cities throughout history. This research aims to present and highlight these articles, emphasizing their importance and their role in revitalizing historical writing by conveying the findings of studies and scientific works published in Europe in the field of economic history during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
