| 520 | |b The human rights of women in societies are at the center of the most studied themes in the 20th and early 21st centuries, especially in democracies that advocate for equality among human beings. Women have been marginalized and discriminated in many areas, such as education, employment, health and political life. Despite the affirmation of equality between men and women in international human rights instruments and in national legislation, particularly in constitutions, many inequalities remain and no country in the world can claim to have achieved the ideal in the protection of women's human rights in all areas. Many international and regional texts (conventions, declarations, treaties) aim to protect and promote women's rights. These texts provide standards and guidelines for governments to ensure that women fully enjoy their rights and are protected from discrimination. In addition, they are regularly re-appropriated by women's rights activists to promote more egalitarian laws. |d Les droits humains des femmes dans les sociétés sont au coeur des thèmes de réflexion les plus étudiés au XXe siècle et au début de ce XXIe siècle, surtout dans les démocraties prônant l’égalité entre êtres humains. Les femmes ont été marginalisées et discriminées dans de nombreux domaines, tels que l’éducation, l’emploi, la santé et la vie politique. En dépit de l’affirmation de l’égalité entre l’homme et la femme à la fois dans les instruments internationaux des Droits de l’Homme et dans les législations nationales notamment dans les Constitutions, de nombreuses inégalités subsistent et aucun pays au monde ne peut affirmer avoir atteint l’idéal en matière de la protection des droits humains des femmes, et ceux dans tous les domaines. De nombreux textes internationaux et régionaux (conventions, déclarations, traités) ont pour objectif de protéger et promouvoir les droits humains des femmes. Ces textes, fournissent des normes et des lignes directrices pour les gouvernements afin de s’assurer que les femmes jouissent pleinement de leurs droits et qu’elles soient protégées contre la discrimination. De plus, ils sont régulièrement réappropriés par les activistes pour les droits des femmes pour promouvoir des lois plus égalitaires. | ||
