المستخلص:Expropriation for public purposes is rarely accepted with enthusiasm by the target populations. Beyond the dispossessed property, there are traditional and cultural values that are undermined to the great displeasure of these populations. The news of the cities of Douala and Dschang in Cameroon is exemplary in this regard. The populations subject to expropriation criticize the contemptuous attitude of the State with regard to their traditional heritage made up of tools and practices necessary for the respect of their ancestral traditions. It should be remembered that the practice of traditions is diverse in Cameroon, due to the plurality of ethnic groups. It is based in particular, in certain cases, on the worship of ancestors generally expressed by the adoration of skulls; in others, on the sacrifices made in so-called sacred places. This is a traditional heritage which, however, has to do with projects related to the construction of new towns. This invites us to question the issue of new towns put to the test of this heritage made up of customary tools and practices.
