| المستخلص: | La faillite de deux banques privées en 2003, en l’occurrence Khalifa bank et la BCIA, n’a pas eu d’impact destructeur sur le secteur bancaire algérien et sur la sphère réelle de l’économie. Mieux encore les indicateurs de référence du secteur bancaire algérien ont été probants durant l’année 2003 et même après. L’objet de cet article est d’abord de passer en revue la littérature sur le risque systémique, et ensuite d’expliquer le pourquoi de cette absence de crise systémique dans ce cas d’espèce. The bankruptcy of two private banks in 2003, namely Khalifa bank and the BCIA, did not have a destructive impact on the Algerian banking sector and on the real sphere of the economy. Better still, the reference indicators of the Algerian banking sector were convincing during the year 2003 and even after. The purpose of this article is first to review the literature on systemic risk, and then to explain the reason for this absence of systemic crisis in this case.
