| 520 | |f For several decades, the economies, particularly those of the underdeveloped countries, have experienced two major trends: a significant increase in longevity and a continual increase in the share of the gross domestic product devoted to health expenditure. The phenomenon of aging will have serious consequences on the Algerian health system, particularly on the control of health expenditure, which continues to grow. The objective of this paper is to analyze the consequences of the aging of the Algerian population on the financing of the Algerian health system through the projection of health expenditure for the age group of 65 years and over. In this study, we have opted for a macroeconomic model that aims to predict the evolution of health expenditure according to the evolution of the age group of the elderly. Two projections will be made, namely the projection of the Algerian population (by age group) and the projection of health expenditure corresponding to the elderly. The study is conducted under a number of assumptions. The projection carried out confirms the trend of evolution of the age group of the elderly which goes from 9% in 2010 to 15% in 2035 and to a quarter in 2060. Thus, health problems become multiple with age and more chronic leading to a sharp increase in health expenditure. The demographic evolution in Algeria shows important changes, which took place at the level of the structure by age with in particular a reduction of the youth group, an increase in that of adults and an increase in the elderly population announcing the inevitable aging of population. | 520 | |d Depuis plusieurs décennies, les économies notamment celles des pays sous développés connaissent deux grandes tendances: un accroissement important de la longévité et une augmentation continuelle de la part du produit intérieur brut consacrée aux dépenses de santé. Le phénomène du vieillissement aura de lourdes conséquences sur le système de santé algérien notamment sur la maîtrise des dépenses de santé qui ne cesse de prendre de l’ampleur. L’objectif de ce papier est d’analyser les conséquences du vieillissement de la population algérienne sur le financement du système de santé algérien à travers la projection des dépenses de santé de la tranche d’âge de 65 ans et plus. Dans cette étude, nous avons opté pour un modèle macroéconomique qui s’attache à prévoir l’évolution des dépenses de santé en fonction de l’évolution de la tranche d’âge des personnes âgées. Deux projections seront réalisées à savoir la projection de la population algérienne (par tranche d’âge) et la projection des dépenses de santé correspondantes aux personnes âgées. L’étude est menée sous un certain nombre d’hypothèses. La projection réalisée confirme la tendance d’évolution de la tranche d’âgé des personnes âgées qui passe de 9% en 2010 à un 15% en 2035 et à un quart en 2060, ainsi, les problèmes de santé deviennent avec l’âge multiples et plus chroniques entrainant une forte augmentation des dépenses de santé. L’évolution démographique en Algérie montre d’importants changements qui se sont opérés au niveau de la structure par âge avec notamment une réduction du groupe des jeunes, un gonflement de celui des adultes et une augmentation de la population âgée annonçant l’inévitable vieillissement de la population.
