| 520 | |a اشتد الوعي القومي في المحيط العربي، وبدأ يعبر عن ذاته قولاً وفعلاً، إذ بدأت المطالبة صراحة بتحسين الحالة السياسية للعرب ضمن إطار الدولة العثمانية، ومع تطورات الأوضاع، وحسب الحالة السياسية في الدولة العثمانية تحولت تلك المطالبات إلى حراك ونشاط سياسي علني امتد على اتجاهات مختلفة فكرية وجغرافية عدة، لقد حاول العرب المطالبة بإصلاحات داخل الدولة العثمانية بعد صدور الدستور العثماني عام 1908م، وذلك لحماية بلادهم من التطورات التي تحدث داخل الدولة العثمانية واشتراطهم الحكم اللامركزي داخل الدولة، ولكنهم اصطدموا بالسياسة الطورانية لحزب الاتحاد والترقي الذي صاغ الدور الأخير في الدولة العثمانية واستلم الحكم الفعلي فيها، منددين بدور العرب في الحياة السياسية في الدولة العثمانية ودورهم في خلخلة أوضاعها الداخلية، من خلال اشتراكهم في جمعيات سرية وعلنية وللمطالبة بامتيازات جديدة في الدولة العثمانية، وهو ما ينافي سياسة جمعية الاتحاد والترقي القائمة على تتريك كافة العناصر المنضوية تحت لواء الدولة العثمانية ومنع استلام أي عنصر غير تركي لأي منصب في مؤسسات الدولة العثمانية. | ||
