| المستخلص: | لقد تعرض الاقتصاد العالمي خلال النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين للعديد من التحولات، كما واجه العديد من التحديات الاقتصادية المتشابكة، خاصة بعد انهيار النظام الاشتراكي وهيمنة النظام الرأسمالي عليه. وقد نتج عن ذلك المزيد من التحرر الاقتصادي وتزايد قوة التكتلات الاقتصادية الدولية، العديد من التحديات التي أصبح من الضروري على الدول النامية مواجهتها من خلال النهوض باقتصادياتها، وتحقيق معدلات نمو تقترب من تلك المحققة في الدول المتقدمة، في إطار خطط تنموية سليمة. ونمثل أداة سعر الصرف أحد أهم أدوات السياسة الاقتصادية للدولة، وألية فعالة لمواجهة الصدمات الداخلية والخارجية، وتختلف درجة تأثيرها في الاقتصاد على مدى استقرار الاقتصاد. حيث يلعب سعر الصرف دورا محوريا في تنافسية الاقتصاد، وبالتالي في وضعية ميزان المدفوعات ومعدلات التضخم والنمو الحقيقي. هذه العوامل قد جذبت الانتباه نحو البحث في الآثار الاقتصادية لتخفيض قيمة العملة المصرية وما لها من تأثير على معدلات التضخم في الاقتصاد المصري. ومن هنا كانت الأهمية الكبرى لمثل هذا البحث الذي يأخذ على كاهله مهمة محاولة الإجابة على التساؤل الأساسي وهو ما تأثير تحرير سعر صرف الجنيه المصري على المستوى العام للأسعار والتي أهم مشكلة تمس شريحة عريضة من المجتمع المصري.
