This paper deals with the study of a milestone that was discovered in 1997 in one of the private farms in the Hammam Sidi El Hadj area, specifically about 2.5 km north of the mineral spa of a place called Hammam Sidi El Hadj (Aquae Herculis), where passes the main Roman road that connects the hill area to the desert region, and exactly between the Lambèse-Biskra, passing through the El Kantara region (Calceus Herculis). Especially since the Hammam Sidi El Hadj area is considered to be a crossroads leading to many areas, such as Biskra, Tobna, and Sbaa Mgata. It is worth while to mention that, during the second century AD, the Hammam Sidi El-Hadj area became a reference starting point for calculating miles towards other regions, and not as was previously applied, where the distance was calculated from the site of Lambèse. |
