| المستخلص: | During the mediaeval centuries, the political changes and conflicts, between East and West, had affected the religious aspect in general, and the holy Qur`an in particular. Later, political and intellectual changes had occurred in the West represented by the French revolution, the material unreligious party that opposed the church, the enlightenment trend, the Western modernization philosophy, new methods for the human and social sciences, and theories and methods to understand the religious texts. Those changes in the West had reflected on the East; most of the orientalists had replaced their old machineries to understand the Qur`anic texts by modern Western ones and contemporary methods. With the increasing connections between the East and the West and the bad conditions of the Islamic society, on one hand, and the Western scientific development, on the other hand, groups emerged from the Islamic environment, influenced by the Western development, and called for investing it. Among these groups, Arab modernizing figures appeared calling for neglecting heritage and applying the Western methods and machineries in understanding the religious texts on the whole Qur’anic speeches. These modern attempts resulted in a problem in understanding the Qur`anic text because the Western machineries and methods were far from the Islamic usul and conditions of understanding. Moreover, the associations of this application fit with the aim of the orientalist; to submitting the holy Qur`an to their methods and machineries. Hence, the research ideas appears: it is about the nature of the effect of the orientalists on the modernizers to understand the holy Qur`an. The most important results of the study are: 1- A number of the Arab enlightening figures who had studied directly for the orientalists, had got use of some of the orientalists in the field of the holy Qur`an. 2- The orientalists effects on the Qur`anic studies represented by two points: the historical critical studies and submitting the holy Qur’an to the human sciences, and that is what the contemporary orientalists called for. The modernizers worked to get use of the oriental achievements in the fields. |
