| المستخلص: | Housing is one of the most important factors that secure the continuation of social and cultural life in society. It is also one of the most important forms of material culture for all human societies with different shapes and sizes. There is a close relationship between the house and family organization in particular, and community organization in general. Through the house we can monitor the social and cultural life of those societies, whether they are extinct or still present. A house or shelter is the first thing that a person constructed thousands of years ago, with the aim of hiding and taking shelter from uncontrollable natural phenomena. In his sustained attempts to survive Man used lands, stones, foliage and rocks. He also used snow in cold areas. The strong relationship between the natural environment and Africans appears in many aspects of cultural life, and is manifested in the house which is the most important cultural element that a person tends to build to protect himself from animals and natural disasters. The importance of cultural elements and their position in the tribe are determined by the importance of the role played by this element: status. The house of different tribes and ethnic groups in Africa occupies a great place, so it is important to point out the development of traditional house in the African continent. The forms of house in Africa are variedaccording to the diversity of natural resources, the geographical environment, and the diversity of cultures. We find certain forms of houses according to that diversity. There are also patterns prevailing in every geographic location, by individuals with similar cultures who impose certain cultural and living ways. Despite the diversity that characterizes the African continent, we can monitor a prevailing pattern of houses in African communities. |
