المستخلص:At the center of the question of discourse-ethical Reasoning is a discussion introduced by aš-Šᾱtịbī about two currents of thought, prevalent at the time, which will essentially shape the thematic focus of the first part of this paper. This discussion involved a conflict between the Ẓᾱhiri, on the one hand, who adhered to a strictly explicit meaning of revelation, and the rational-theological scholars, on the other hand, who attached particular importance to practical reason for a connotative interpretation of the Qur’an. Taking up the latter view, the second section of this paper deals with hermeneutic conceptual analysis. Focusing on a discussion of finality and causality, this analysis will present aš-Šᾱtịbī's refutation of the Ẓᾱhiri interpretive mdel of the ratio legis.
