| المستخلص: | Libraries have always faced challenges in making materials accessible and in helping readers to find and understand the books they need. Inadequate resources and the increasing number of publications are familiar problems. Other challenges include the relationship between librarians and other information specialists and confusion in terminology. The Internet, social media, and fake news have brought new difficulties. These and other challenges facing libraries and schools of library and information science are reviewed with comments on how they might be handled. Libraries, librarians, and related providers of information have always faced challenges in making documents accessible and in helping readers to find and to understand the books, periodicals, and other resources they need. Some of these challenges are as old as libraries and likely to continue. Others are new. I will provide a summary of these challenges, comment on their nature and on how they might be addressed. |
