| المستخلص: | مع تطور الأنشطة وازدهار التجارة البحرية الدولية الهائل وتزايد اللجوء إلى التحكيم الأجنبي لتسوية المنازعات البحرية، ومع افتقار الوطن العربي بل الشرق الأوسط اجمع لمثل هذه المراكز، أصبح كلا من المستثمرين وأصحاب الأموال يفضلون اللجوء لتسوية منازعاتهم البحرية في الخارج؛ نظرا لتوافر خبره عالية نابعه من واقع هذا المجال ملمة بالأعراف البحرية. كما أن القضايا البحرية بالتحديد لها طابع خاص ومختلف عن القضايا الأخرى؛ لما يتمتع به هذا الكيان البحري بتعدد النشاطات واختلافها، وهنا يتجلى دور التحكيم البحري وأهمية ما يقوم به من سرعة ومرونة في تسوية مثل هذه المنازعات الدولية، وذلك بواسطة مركز تحكيم متخصص يصب كافة الخبرات والأدوات في تسوية المنازعات البحرية على أن يكون معتمدا لدى المنظمة البحرية الدولية؛ والذي يعتبر عامل أمان بالتأكيد لدى أطراف النزاع. وانطلاقا مما تقدم، سوف تبحث هذه الورقة البحثية في؛ أسباب لجوء أطراف النزاع للتحكيم في الخارج، ومدى أهمية توافر مركز للتحكيم البحري في المملكة العربية السعودية معتمدا من المنظمة البحرية الدولية، وأيضا أثره على جذب الاستثمارات الدولية من كافة أنحاء العالم وتشجيع وتحفيز أصحاب الأعمال ورؤوس الأموال باستثمار وتشغيل مشروعاتهم وأموالهم في المملكة؛ مما يساهم ذلك في تفعيل التنمية الاقتصادية.
