| المستخلص: | يشكل عنصر المفاجأة أهمية خاصة في القصة القصيرة تتوقف على وعي الكاتب لتقنيات القصة ومساحتها والقدرة على توزيع تقنياتها بشكل يضمن تفاعل القارئ وانجذابه للقصة فعنصر المفاجأة لا يظهر إلا ملتحما في نسيج الحدث المتنامي إذ يكسر أفق التوقع الذي يرسمه القارئ للأحداث ويربك انفعالاته اتجاه ما يحدث ويخلخل سير الحدث لذلك كان له أهمية خاصة في بناء الحدث، وفي هذا البحث حاولنا الكشف عن أهميته في بعض القصص من مجموعة (الأوغاد يضحكون) للقاص عبدة خال التي تعتمد عنصر المفاجأة في بنائها ودور الكاتب في إيجاد بدائل لعنصر المفاجأة في القصص التي تخلو منه.
