| 520 | |b The paper introduces the manuscripts of al-Gharam bi-adillat al-ahkam by al-Hafiz al-Qutb al-Khaydari al-Shafi’i (AH 821-894): a copy in the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives in Riyadh, and another in the Sehit Ali Pasa Kutuphanesi in Istanbul. An introduction regarding the life of the author, including his teachers, students and writings, is followed by a descriptive study of the two manuscripts. The author confirms their attribution to the author on the basis of internal evidence in the manuscripts as well as other evidence. This is then followed by a discussion of the most important distinguishing features of the book as well as its flaws. The paper finishes with an appendix detailing the jurisprudential divisions of the book and the number of Prophetic Traditions contained in each of its component parts. | ||
