This study examines their choices in order to urge and persuade. The pragmatic meanings of modal verbs are discussed through Sperber and Wilson's Relevance Theory in order to show how the linguistic and pragmatic choices of the religious scholars help them to achieve the optimal relevance by achieving the greatest possible cognitive effect for the smallest processing effort. | ||
