| المستخلص: | The Karaites who gave prominent grammarians such as Abū Al- Faraǧ Hārūn b. al-Faraǧ (11th century) who wrote numerous works both in Hebrew and Arabic along with quotes from the Holy Scriptures Regarding the Samaritans, the first grammarian to lay down the most important precise and methodological description of Hebrew Samaritan language was Shams Al-Ḥukamā, Abū Ishāq Ibrāhīm Ibn Faraǧ Ibn Mārūṯ, author of Kitāb at-tawṭiya fī naḥu al-luġa al-ibrāniyya (12th century). Since Iam mainly concerned with this Samaritan work, we consider that the author of this pioneer grammatical work was quite familiar with the efforts and achievements of his predecessors in both Hebrew and Arabic the field of descriptive and normative grammar. The influence of Karaite writings Al-Kitāb Al-kāfī fī Al-luġa Al- Ibrāniyya by Abū Al-Faraǧ Hārūn Ibn al-Faraǧ To show clearly the influence of this work on Ibn Mārūṯ, I will list the similar terms shared by both Al-Kitāb Al-kāfī Abū Al-Faraǧ and Kitāb at-tawṭiya of Ibn Mārūṯ. In the footnotes I trace back some of those terms to their original sources known before Al-Kitāb al-kāfī with the intention to allow for the reasonable possibility of having come down to Ibn Mārūṯ through other channel than the work of the Karaite Abū Al- Faraǧ Hārūn. |
